Champagne

It is a type of sparkling wine located in the Champagne region in the northeast of France and is protected by a Controlled Denomination of Origin.

Champagne is a white or rosé sparkling wine made from a blend of chardonnay, pinot meunier, pinot noir, pinot gris, arbanne and petit meslier grapes.

Although the name champagne is exclusive to the Champagne region, protected by the Appellation of Controlled Origin, the term champagne is popularly used to describe the sparkling wines produced in many regions of the world, including cava.

In its elaboration, the champenoise method is used. This method is characterized by a double fermentation, a first one in tank or vat and a second one in bottle.
