Montsant
The Montsant Denomination of Origin was born in 2001.
This denomination of origin includes several municipalities in the regions of Priorat and Ribera de Ebro, in the southwest of Catalonia, grouping together more than fifty wineries.
The area’s climate is Mediterranean with continental features, rainfall is low and there are significant temperature differences between day and night.
Red wines are mainly produced for aging, that is, they spend some time in the barrel before going into the bottle. The main grape varieties are tempranillo, white grenache and cariñena.
For white wines they preferably use white grenache and macabeo varieties.
The vines have a low yield, a characteristic that defines the wines of this area, and that makes them very precious.
